Help wanted! 🛟#Inkscape community member @dopelover recently contributed a set of shortcuts that mimics that of #Illustrator CC 2024, but it needs a larger userbase to test it before merging. If you're (or you know someone) familiar with Illustrator, please go to the forum page and follow the instructions to get the new keyboard shortcuts file for testing there:https://inkscape.org/forums/inks-news/help-test-the-new-illustrator-compatible-shortcuts/Thanks for your testing!

@inkscape @dopelover I cannot seem to drag that key file anywhere. The instructions aren't clear where to drag it, but I assume they mean to the User Keys input which is greyed out for me.

@inkscape @dopelover Welp, a few years ago this would have been me but I'm now so unfamiliar with Illustrator that I don't think I'd be much help +__+

@kolya @inkscape Hi kolya, you are almost there. Hit the Open button beside the greyed out path in the User keys row (that highlighted one in your screenshot). It will open a file explorer. Then you will be able to drag and drop the previously downloaded file onto the opened window. Then you need to restart Inkscape and open the preferences again, this time navigate to Interface > Keyboard ShortcutsAnd at last switch the "Keyboard file" to "Adobe Illustrator CC"

@dopelover @inkscape I actually tried that, but there is no drag target. The whole pref window gives me a "blocked sign" cursor when dragging the xml to it, including the greyed out input field for User Keys where the path is seen.

@kolya @dopelover @inkscape Mh, whenever I'm on a new system I import my custom shortcuts by clicking the Import button in Edit ‣ Preferences ‣ Interface ‣ Keyboard ( see first pic here: https://inkscape-manuals.readthedocs.io/en/latest/custom-keyboard-shortcuts.html ) would this work here as well?

@jfml @kolya @dopelover It's not 'Import', but 'Open' and is described as that in the linked post.

@anthracite @dopelover The image is just symbolic. These are the default keyboard shortcuts.
