       How can Pixelfed sustain the growth without introducing ads or some other form of monetization?Federation.If pixelfed.social becomes to costly, we simply close registration.        @dansup Could you share that message to pixelfed users as well as a compulsory yet friendly notification? I assume that many new users are not fully aware of what federation mean and how they are invited to be co responsible for the project. I'm sure many would love to contribute financially.        @phoenix_1312 thank you, and yes, we def need to improve on this. Would you be willing to help us? Just advising us on the steps you envision and like copy and stuff would help a lot, its feedback like this that really improves Pixelfed

       @dansup just wondering: isn’t more federation going to increase the bill as well for your server even if you close registration? What happens if there are 10 new servers and they all federate with you and subscribe to users on your server - isn’t that going to drive cost for network traffic through the roof?

       @dansup I think something is going wrong here: a few weeks ago I started a new pixelfed server in Spanish (https://fotolibre.social which is listed in the directory) but no more than a dozen users have arrived...
