Hey G'MIC-Qt users! I'm curious. Could you tell me about your 3 favorite filters ?I feel like improving existing filters (for instance, by trying to add new options or parameters). So if I can do it on filters that are at least useful to a few people, that would be even better 😋 Any suggestion appreciated!

@gmic "Add Grain" is my favorite. I use it to bring some warm and organic feel into drawings. It's very customizable and feels much more natural than ordinary noise filters. It's also suitable for creating fake-paper or cardboard textures."Color Temperature" is a more technical thing. I use it to quickly adjust the colors (white balance) in photos or scans. Also Krita doesn't offer this function yet. Would be nice if the slider would show the values in Kelvin instead of just numbers.

@gmic I use the different inpainting filers a lot and would like to have better documentation about the differences. Then I tried the 3D Blocks plugin. But I missed the option to apply a texture. And interactive rotation in the preview would be nice. https://dablogter.blogspot.com/2024/11/alternative-for-aerialod.htmlWith many filters I also have more of a problem with too many options than with too few - I'm more in favor of better UX than more options.

@gmic For astrophotography (e.g. https://mastodon.social/@reedmideke/113360887363879701) I frequently use Ian's NR, Saturation EQ and Octave Sharpening. Not sure any of those really need improving. One thing I'd find helpful generally is more documentation of what the individual settings actually do, it can be tedious to toggle every setting and try to figure out how they interact

@gmic I also really like the Add Grain filter. However, I noticed that when I first use this filter without an active Internet connection, the preview does not work and the filter is not applied to the image (see the screenshot). As I understand it, an Internet connection is required to download .cimgz files (grain_kodak_tmax400.cimgz, grain_kodak_tmax3200.cimgz and others) to the /home/USER/.cache/gmic directory.@Drayventhal

@gmic On the one hand, this is not a problem. However, a few months ago, it turned out to be a problem for me, because after reinstalling the OS, I managed to install GIMP and G'MIC-Qt, but then the Internet disappeared because my power was cut off for 8 hours due to a rocket attack. So I couldn't use this filter, because without these files, the filter doesn't work.@Drayventhal

@gmic So it would be great if these files were already included in the package with G'MIC-Qt, i.e. already available after installation (if technically possible). If I'm not mistaken, I had a similar case with some other filter, but I don't remember which one :(@Drayventhal

@khrystynamatviyenko Thanks for your feedback. I understand your concern, but putting all these data in the download archive would add roughly 40Mo to the installer, for data that may be finally never used. But, we have a filter in the plug-in : "About / Download External Data" that allows to download all those extra data once (see screenshot).

@gmic Thanks for the information! Unfortunately, I've never paid attention to this menu section, so now I'll know about this feature :)

@gmic Hi, I like "loose photos", "rain & snow" and Pack Sprites. I think photos with horny corners would be interesting.I 'd like add a parameter to animate the filter "rain & snow"I'm trying to make a word cloud with the filter "Pack Sprites"It would have to be online. "any" is the only one to give a result and the words are all over the place. I'd like it to be in the reading direction.
