i'm giving a talk later this week and tbh i don't want to give talks anymore. it's just too stressful for me to prep etc. in the future i just want to do hands-on talking about our stuff like at the CCC assembly or maybe panel discussions that don't require a script. in general i prefer informal settings 100x more.

@mntmn 💯 I prefer informal every day of the week. I can’t really write and read from a script, and winging it for a long presentation can be very hit or miss depending on the energy and inspiration of the day (and stress has quite a negative effect on both)My favorite setting is the barcamp setting that eg IndieWebCamps have (I guess CCC is similar, haven’t visited yet, but my Flattr colleagues as well as Tim Pritlove spoke well about it back in the day)

@mntmn I feel that on so many levels. Spent most of last week prepping a talk I didn’t even give but handed off to a colleague, and it was just kinda nerve wrecking, and I could’ve probably winged it in a less formal setting 🙈

@mntmnI hear you. Just because you can do it and are good at it, doesn't mean you have to do it or like it.

@mntmnA panel is a set of questions triggering you to speak about certain topics. You could just as well set your own talking points and fill a presentation slot. It requires a bit more care to stay on topic and on time. Slides can be optional, or just a static background. I have listened to your recordings I could find online and I'm eager for more detail, so besides 1:1 talk it would be cool to have shareable recordings of you talking about your work.
