Yes they all fiddle with reality and I DO care.
Escher, according to some essay I have in a book about him, was obsessed
with Infinity. He set out to discover it in Art, and found it in various
places: His "regular tessalations of the plane", with lots of
interlocked creatures (usually those charming little lizards) crawling
into and out of the page.
Magritte I dont know much about, but he was obsessed with the natural
Non-Sequiturs (cant be bothered spell checking) of Reality.
He found the seams where reality falls apart and made delightful little
visual puns surrounding them.
Dali was a drug crazed paranoid schizophrenic, who drew a lot of his
inspiration from LSD and other drug experiences. His art reflects the
"Melting" quite a lot - the disturbing moments wherein it is revealed
that the world is just a mass of textures and there are more similarities
than differences.
This is the essence of VR.
This is where the beauty and possibilities rest.
This is what we should be talking about!
