Ms. Mirsky is a freelance writer and editor currently based in Budapest, Hungary. Although she has settled down to the life of an expatriate, she still considers herself a Californian. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, the daughter of a musician, where she spent a happy childhood on the beach. She attended the University of California, Santa Cruz and received a degree in Politics with an emphasis on theory. A junior year abroad in Budapest introduced her to Central Europe. Besides writing, she consults with governmental and academic translators and is in process of becoming a translator herself. In this edition, Ms. Mirsky reviews The Map of Love.

| Mr. Stewart a native of Asheville, North Carolina,
has lived most of his life in Europe. He served as Italian correspondent
for the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad and wrote for publications
in various countries. Recently, he lived over a year in Mexico to research
and work on a novel that takes place in Italy and Mexico. He recently
returned home to Rome. In this issue he reports on Umberto Eco.
