First of all, let me give credit where credit is due. I am a
newcomer to the field of phreaking. I have only been "into it" for
about 6 months now. The people who have helped me write this file
are:

Brew Associates -- His help was fantastic.
Lord Lawless -- His list of diverters is included (in part)
                           in this file.
The Arabian Knight \
The Sensei -- The list of diverters they compiled also
The Software Brigand / shows up (in part) in this file.

These people (with the exception of Brew Associates) don't know I'm
using their material, so if they object, I will formally withdraw this
file.

First off, Alliance Teleconferencing is a little coproration
that will allow you to call any number of people you want (worldwide)
and connect them all in one giant party line. Now that you know that
this wonderful company exists, you may be saying "Gosh, how do I do
this?" Well, the (legal) number to call this is 0-700-456-1000.
That will charge you $.25 / Minute + ALL LONG DISTANCE CHARGES. Ok.
Now Alliance isn't as neeto as you thought. Oh, but don't dispair.
There is a better way. Allow me to explain what a diverter is. A
diverter is a number that when you call it, and the other party hangs
up, you get their dial tone. The reason for this is that you call
the number, you get transfered to one of many operators or another
number (perhaps an answering service). When they hang up, instead of
them dropping the line, they drop you back from THEIR line to the
MAIN line (or so I'm to understand). Then, you have their
switchboard, their capibilities, and their bill. They pay. You
don't. Gosh, aren't diverters fantastic? Yes. They are. Ok.
Simply, what you do is call a diverter, WAIT FOR THE PERSON WHO
ANSWERS TO HANG UP, wait for a dial tone (you will not always get
one, sometimes you get hung up), and then dial Alliance. Now, since
the list of diverters I have in this file does not cover every state
and area code, you will probably have to use a code via MCI or METRO
or whatever to get to your chosen diverter. Ok. Here is the story
for you so far:

MCI-PORT <WAIT> codenumber <WAIT> ADI-VER-TER!
<WAIT FOR HANGUP AND DIALTONE> 0-700-456-1000

MCI-PORT -- an MCI port or something along that line
codenumber -- an MCI access code
ADI-VER-TER! -- a diverter (gosh?)
0-700-456-1000 -- Alliance

If you don't get a dialtone, or the number is busy, or perhaps
the switchboard won't let you call Alliance or anything LD, then just
try another number or try that one again. This is a science, but
it's also an art.

Ok, let's pretend you're on Alliance. Now what? Well, they
offer you directions from step one, but from personal experience they
are just not too clear for your average 12 year old. When you are
on, wade through the opening instruction, dial the number of the
number of people you're planning on calling. Then dial
1-npa-xxx-xxxx. Wait for the party to answer, and then hit #. If
they aren't home or the number is busy, hit * and you are back to
your conference. If you want to add someone new at any time, the
1-npa-xxx-xxxx routine will still work. ANY TIME. They have on-line
instructions for overseas and other intra-continental countries.
It's the 'ol 00 numbers you're probably used to.

Ok. Now it's time for the final run-down:

MCI-PORT <WAIT> codenumber <WAIT> ADI-VER-TER!
<WAIT FOR HANGUP AND DIALTONE> 0-700-456-1000
<WAIT FOR ANSWER> n <LISTEN TO INSTRUCTIONS>
1-cal-laf-rien # -or- *

MCI-PORT -- an MCI port or something along that line
codenumber -- an MCI access code
ADI-VER-TER! -- a diverter (gosh?)
0-700-456-1000 -- Alliance
n -- number of people planned for conference
1-cal-laf-rien -- the number of a freind
# -- the key to get your buddy in the conference
*               --   "   "  that doesn't let your buddy in

Since some of you are the type that like to cause trouble, try
making a lot of overseas calls to diferent countries and adding
operators in diferent languages. Throw in a pay-phone or two. When
you are sure people are confused, just hang up or if you're the real
nasty type swear and call them assholes. This will serve to piss off
the people with the diverter, the people you've strung together, and
make you happy. However, I suggest you use this to string together
conferences of friends or relatives or hacking groups or pirate
groups or a basketball team or whatever.

Now what follows is a list of diverters from the people I
mentioned at the beginning of this file. I DID NOT HACK THESE OUT IN
ANY WAY WHATSOEVER. The files were taken from YYZ Private (which is
Brew Associates PRIVATE INVITATION-ONLY board). These numbers in
these files first showed up in files that first showed up on Pirate
Zone, Stairway to Hell, and even from Lord Lawless' private stock (I
think). If that's confusing, just read the credits and thank the
people I thanks. I DID NOT GET THESE. THEY DID.

The following text is from THE ARABIAN KNIGHT. This is
explanation of what a diverter is. This was taken from a list of
various number that he compiled concerning other concepts of the
phone company:

How to use a Diverter is very simple. You call up your Diverter
#, wait for the people to answer, & when they do answer, say
something like, "Is this Taco Bell?", and they'll say you have the
wrong number. Then say sorry, and wait for them to hang up, but stay
on. After a minute or so, you will finally get their tone. You can
dial anywhere from there. You can have conference calls, call Russia,
call anywhere you want. If you have one that gives a carrier, just
hit 50 then it will hang up. Then just wait from there and let the
phone bill rise.
