Unfortunately my tape recorder isn't working, so no ctape
for me right now. I took the thing apart to see if there
were any obvious issues, beyond that I don't want to
invest any time in repairing it (purchased it for a couple
dollars at a thrift store; I'll puchase another.)

End result is, no writing/reading files from cassette for
the time being. Perhaps in a few weeks. Still getting over
some kind of sickness, taking a lot longer than usual.
Perhaps a function of getting older, or maybe I caught
something unusual. Most likely just a perfect storm of
weakened immune system from travelling combined with some
bacteria that I'm not normally exposed to. I wish it
would just go away.

Reminds me of that saying, which I'll paraphrase since
I don't know who really said it and my google fu is not
strong at the moment: "A healthy person has many wishes,
but a sick person has only one: to be well." So very true.
