Back when I decided to take a vacation from social media, one of the reasons I gave was that in the Before Time (i.e. Before Social Media, in the year 2005 BSM and earlier), I got more stuff done. It's not necessarily the kind of stuff that's going to set the world on fire or anything, but I did do more stuff. I wrote more, I read more, I created content for my ridiculous number of websites more. And since writing that post all the way back in January (it's April as I'm writing this), I've started to find my legs, so to speak, and I've slowly been getting back into the habit of doing some of the things that I kept saying that I wanted to do, but could never find the time, for some reason. I've updated this phlog a few times, I've uploaded a lot of stuff to this gopher hole in general, I've started to dust off my backlog of books and started reading some more, and so on. But I think I can do more. Last year I registered a new domain (I can stop any time I want to, I swear), called 8bit.fun. The idea was to just have fun documenting video games and video game culture that I liked. Probably nothing you haven't really seen before, but it was something that I could do to help me both document the insane amount of video-game-related stuff that's accumulated in my life (and my house), but also to create new content to explore some new creative ideas that I had. That didn't pan out, and as the date of the domain's renewal started coming up, I decided that I would just let it gently fade away into obscurity. But now that I seem to be getting a second wind of sorts, I'm thinking that I want to reverse gears on that decision. To that end, I've renewed the domain registration and I'm going to be spending some time over the next few weeks getting some ducks into something resembling a row and start doing something over there. I don't know what, exactly, the form will take, but I'm cautiously excited to see where it takes me.
