FINDING INSPIRATION (Posted 2006-11-01 03:14:01 by basscomm) Allow me to not talk about video games for a moment, maybe next time. It's been a busy couple of weeks over here in the land of the Crummy Socks. I have, for the second time this year, packed up my belongings and carted them across five states. This time, they're in a temporary home, and I will be moving them again in a few short months. Each time I do that I'm reminded how much I hate actively dislike putting all my things into tiny boxes, moving them any distance, and taking them all right back out of their boxes. On the bright side, since I'm now back in my home town, I can get my old classic games out of storage and shower them with adoration again: "Oh, _Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time_, how I've missed having to take four seconds to say your name. Oh, _Kid Niki: Radical Ninja_, the bizarre juxtaposition of _Radical_ and _Ninja_ reminds me of just how 80's you really are." Etc. Etc. And I've managed to segue into talking about video games again. Whoops. Also, at the time of this post, I still haven't decided on the topic for my NaNoWriMo [ http://www.nanowrimo.org/userinfo.php?uid=125653 ] book that I have to start writing no sooner than two hours and 49 minutes from now. Time to panic? Ask me again in two hours and 48 minutes. -------- There are 2 comments on this post: Comment #1 by Ray ( ) on 2006-11-01 08:28:40 Write about how outraged you are about [politician]! Glad you arrived safely. We bought some video games today... I have been spending a lot of time with SNES/Tetris 3 lately. Things like my brief, but utterly successful jaunt in the world of web comic...ery, the undeniable charm of the mame cabinet, my inherent ability to woo ladies (Marin) with my ocarina.... Or you could write a post apocalyptic novel about a once technologically sophisticated civilization that has fallen to ruins due to an event of your choosing and reverted back to a sort of "Old West" type of living with six shooters, dust roads, saloons, etc... But parts of the old world still exist, you see, so you get this contrast of your basic simple machine technology and human nature mixed in with futuristic, yet now outdated technology. All of which will be put into play to not only further the human race, but to save it from an unknown evil force that threatens what little they have left. But its just an idea.....
