wcIRC 1.0 BETA Release Notes - January 7, 1998
by Robert Roland (rar@lightspeed.net)

-----

This is a very early beta. There are a LOT of features that are still missing. There are
also some bugs that I already know of, but I wanted to get this project out into the open.
I have a few sysops that are very eager to beta test this product. =)

-----

Known bugs:

DO NOT use an actual IP address for the IRC server. Use it's fully qualified host name.
(i.e. ircd.idt.net, not 169.132.44.49). Using an IP address WILL crash that node of the
BBS.

-----

Known limitations:

You can only join one channel at a time.

If for some reason you wcIRC says that you're in a channel but you're really not, type
/CLEARCH - this will fix the flag that shows you in a channel.

99% of the CTCP commands do not work yet.

DCC does not work yet.

identd does not work. I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to implement this with
Wildcat. If anyone knows of an identd server for Wildcat, let me know.

-----

What does work:

/J <channel>
/JOIN <channel> - Join a channel

/M <nick> <message>
/MSG <nick <message> - Send a private message

/NAMES <channel> - Show who is in <channel>

/SC - Show who is in the current channel

/PART <channel> - Leave a channel

/WHOIS <nick> - Find out about a particular user

/ME <action> - Do an action to the channel

/RAW <command> - Send a raw command to the IRC server

/SERVER <server> - Change to <server>

/Q <reason>
/QUIT <reason> - Quit IRC with <reason> - defaults to your nickname

Hitting your tab key will let you send a private message to the last person who messaged
you.

-----

Command line options:

/CONFIG - Automatically go into the configuration screen. If the user has never entered
wcIRC before, this will automatically happen. This is useful if the user is getting
a configuration error that is throwing them out of wcIRC.

-----

Installation:

Put the WCIRC.WCX in your Wildcat directory.

Put WCIRCC.BBS and WCIRCH.BBS in your Wildcat DISP directory.

Add menu items for wcIRC to whatever menu you want to start wcIRC from.

-----

Good luck! If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
