Telegard CD Importer v1.00 by Mark Hoover For TG 3.09+ Disclaimer ---------- The author of CD2TG is not responsible for any damaged, corrupted, lost, or otherwise harmful occurences that may occur from use (or inability thereof) of this program. It has been tested, and the author runs it on his own system. To the best of my knowledge, CD2TG has no bugs and will not destroy anything on your system. However, I guarentee nothing, except that this program will take up hard drive space. If it breaks, you own all the pieces. Description ----------- CD2TG allows sysops to easily import BBS File CD-ROMs into the Telegard BBS System. It does this by using a FILES.BBS style description file and the CD-ROM drive table to write to the Telegard BBS information files. Note: For those who like to copy touched files out to a safe place, these are the files that CD2TG will use during its execution: \CD2TG.CFG \CDDEFS.CFG \FAREAS.DAT \*.FA \*.FAD CD2TG will also optionally execute INDEX.EXE or INDEX2.EXE as appropriate if desired. Command-Line Parameters ----------------------- CD2TG has only three command line parameters: /? This will display the command-line help /C This will run the configuration program /I This will run CD2TG in Import Mode Installation ------------ To install CD2TG it is recommended that it be placed in its own directory, but this is not required so long as there are no other files in that directory with the names CD2TG.EXE, CD2TG.CFG, or CDDEFS.CFG. CD2TG must be run from the same directory in which configuration files are located. First, you must run the configuration program. This will create a configuration file for the import program to use. The CD Definition file is provided with pre-programmed CD formats. CD2TG Menu Items (Configuration Mode) ------------------------------------- General Configuration --------------------- CONFIG.TG - This should be the path+filename to your CONFIG.TG file. The first time you run the configuration program, CD2TG will attempt to find this file on it's own. However, if CD2TG is unable to find it, you'll need to enter this information. Log Path - This is the path+filename of the logfile that CD2TG will generate. Leaving this blank will disable logging. Uploader Name - This is the name that CD2TG will put in the uploader name field of each file that it uploads into your Telegard filebases. Run INDEX.EXE - This determines whether or not CD2TG will run INDEX.EXE or INDEX2.EXE as appropriate in order to regenerate the Telegard file indexes. File Area Setup --------------- *Note: Parts of this section were taken directly from the Telegard documentation. Description Prefix - CD2TG will add this into the file area description before any desciption that may be located on the CD for any given file area. This allows the sysop to put things like "CD1: " before the area names. Filename Prefix - CD2TG will add this into the filename created for the FA/FAD files. For example: CD1-*.FA List Header - The name of a text file to be used as a header to any file lists performed on this base. If none is defined, the default internal header will be used. (A border on the top and bottom of the file area name and number). List ACS - This is the access required to make this area available to be seen in area lists and to allow the users to list files in this area. Names ACS - If users have access to the area, and the system configuration option to see upload info is toggled on, users who meet this ACS will see the name of the uploader and upload date after the file description for each file. Upload ACS - This ACS must be met in order for Telegard to accept uploads into this area. It is STRONGLY recommended that this be set to allow no users to upload. Download ACS - The ACS that must be met for a user to download files from this area. Sysop ACS - The ACS that must be met in order for a user to have SysOp Access to this file area. Scan Type - If this is set to "Default On" then when new users log on, the scan table for them will have this area in it automatically, but the users will be able to toggle it on and off as they see fit. If this is set to "Default Off" the users will not have it in their scan tables but will also be able to toggle it as they wish. If it is set to "Mandatory" users will automatically have it entered into their scan tables and will be unable to toggle it off. FA Location - The location where CD2TG will place the FA/FAD files for each new file area. Primary/Seconday Sorting - This allows the sysop to choose how the file areas will be sorted when a sort command is issued in Telegard. No Ratio - If this option is turned on Telegard will disregard file ratios for areas that CD2TG creates. Visible - If this option is turned on Telegard will allow users to see any file areas that CD2TG created even if they normally wouldn't be able to see them. GIF Spec - Turning this option will cause CD2TG to scan any JPG/BMP/GIF/PCX files it finds and import their resolutions into the description. Note: This can slow down CD2TG tremendously depending on the speed of your CD-ROM drive. Free DL - If this option is turned on, all files that CD2TG imports will be marked as a free download. No Time - If this option is turned on, all files that CD2TG imports will not result in users time being decresed while downloading these files. CD Type Setup ------------- Format Name - This is purely a descriptive field to help describe the type definition. Format - This is the format that the CD-Maker has chosen to use. In some cases this is a propriatary format and the CD Name will be the format name. In other cases you'll need to examine the CD and look for listed files. Area Name - This is the name of the file that contains the area paths and/or descriptions. Some formats do not either use predefined files or a predefined layout, in which case this field will be disabled. Area Lines Skip - Some CD-Rom makers include a header at the top of the file. To skip over these lines set this to the number of lines between the first file and the top. If the first area is on line 1 then enter 0 here. Description File - This is the name of the desciption file. Normally this is FILES.BBS Desc Lines Skip - Some CD-Rom makers include a header at the top of the file. To skip over these lines set this to the number of lines between the first file and the top. If the first file is on line 1 then enter 0 here. Desc Position - This is the character position on the line where the first line of the description starts. This number must be 1 or greater with 1 being the first character on the line. However, the description normally doesn't start until somewhere after position 15 as the first 14 positions are for the filename. Ext Desc Position - This is the character position on the line where the extended description starts. In many cases these last two numbers will be the same, but in some formats there's a leading character or an indent that must be skipped over. Log Options ----------- * Note: All these options assume that a log file and path have been entered in the General Configuration. General Info - This option if turned on will write information such as the command-line parameters used to the logfile. Errors - This will log any errors encountered to the logfile. Area Summary Info - If this option is turned on, CD2TG will write to the logfile the number of files imported and the total bytes imported for each area. CD Summary Info - If this option is turned on, CD2TG will write to the logfile the number of files imported and total bytes imported for each CD. Debug - This is the same as turning all of the above options on. Misc Items ---------- Information - Displays information about the program and credits to those who have helped in the developement of CD2TG. Quit - Exits the configuration program. CD2TG Menu Items (Import Mode) ------------------------------ Select Drive - This allows you to select which drive CD2TG will look at for the CD-Rom files to import. Select Format - This allows you to select a format for the CD that's about to be imported from the types that were defined earlier. Be sure to make sure that you select the correct type. Not setting this right can lead to unpredictable results. Import - Starts the importation process. Quit - Exits CD2TG and runs INDEX.EXE if this option has been turned on in the General Configuration. Registration ------------ I'm releasing CD2TG as freeware considering that most sysops probably won't be using the program all that often. However, donations are always appreciated and never rejected....:) Distribution ------------ CD2TG can be downloaded from the following places: BBS: The InnerSpace BBS 757-491-2322 File Area: InnerSpace Software FidoNet: Send a FREQ to 1:275/103 and request CD2TG Email: Send an email to mahoover@earthlink.net with FREQ in the subject line and FREQ CD2TG in the body.
