   ColorSL v1.5 (c) Jim Davis

THIS IS SHAREWARE. It's uncrippled. The only difference
between the registered and unregistered versions is that the
unregistered one says `This software is UNREGISTERED!' in a
few places, where the registered one says `Registered to Soandso
of the Suchandsuch BBS.' That, and I'll be much happier if
      everyone registers.

Registration is $10, mailable to the address at the bottom of
      this document.

   File List

      Ŀ
COLORSL.EXE - Door to let users select their colors.
COLSET.EXE - Autologin door to set user's preferred colors.
COL2TEXT.EXE - Used internally by COLORSL and COLSET, it dumps
the color selections for a specified node to
                      stdout.
COL2SL.EXE - Same as COL2TEXT, but the other way around.
       COLORSL.TXT - This text file.
      Ĵ
COLORSL.CFG - Configuration file for COLORSL and COLSET.
COLORSL.DAT - User information for COLORSL and COLSET.
      Ĵ
COPYCOL.BAT - Sample batch file to copy color configuration
                      from one node to another.

   Setting Up

The COLORSL package needs to have it's own directory to store
data files and whatnot. You should create a new data file to
start out with by running `COLORSL /X'. If you do this AFTER
users have run it, it'll wipe all their information and reset
      the user file.

COLORSL needs to be set up like this:

 5. Door Command ... D:\BBSUTIL\COLORSL\COLORSL /U%U /O%O /F%F /M%M /T%T /A%A
 6. Directory Path ................ .
 7. Communications Support ........ BIOS
 8. Abort Method .................. Terminate
 9. Write Protection .............. No

Under the security options, it has to be set up like this:

 8. Graphics Required ............. RIP+Ansi

Well, it doesn't really **HAVE** to be, but people with NO
ANSI will complain about it buggering their screen, most likely.

To set up COLSET, just put it in your login and logoff
autodoors. For logging in, it requires the username be
      passed to it, like this:

        COLSET %U

Or %1, %2, or whatever, if it's run from a batch file. To
reset your colors, either run it from your logoff autodoor
      with the /R switch:

        COLSET /R

Or don't! When it runs in the login autodoor, if it's passed
a name that's not in its datafile it will reset to the default
      colors, anyway.

That will reset it to the custom colors in your COLORSL.CFG
file. What? I haven't mentioned that file yet? Crumbs. Well,
      here goes.

   The COLORSL.CFG File

The config file looks like this:

                Ŀ
                 Hippie Commune BBS
                 Jim Davis
                 00
                 11 15 1 5 14 15 10 12 9 5 13

The first two lines are kind of obvious -- The BBS name, and
the SysOp's name. The third line is the registration number
(see below). The fourth line defines the default colors that
are used when `COLSET /R' is run, or if the user presses ^U while
in the door. You can figure out the numbers manually for your
BBS, or you can run `COL2TEXT', and copy the line of text that
COL2TEXT.EXE gives you into the config file. If the config file
has a semicolon (;) at the beginning of a line, it'll ignore that
line. See the enclosed one for a sample.

   Using the Door

The door's main screen looks like this, but in color:

   Ŀ

Hippie Commune BBS Screen Colors Setup

   1. Normal Text Color ............. Lt Cyan Sample
   2. Inverse Text Color ............ White Sample
   3. Inverse Background Color ...... Blue Sample
   4. Command Color ................. Magenta Sample
   5. Subboard Highlight Color ...... Yellow Sample
   6. Heading Color ................. White Sample
   7. Input/Chat Mode Color ......... Lt Green Sample
   8. Special Messages Color ........ Lt Red Sample
   9. Error Messages Color .......... Lt Blue Sample
  10. Alternate Color ............... Magenta Sample
  11. Prompt Color .................. Lt Magenta Sample

Press ESC when done Press F1/^J for Help Press ^R to Redraw Screen

Using the up and down arrow keys and the ENTER key move the
selection bar up or down one line, and the left and right
arrow keys, spacebar, and backspace choose a color. If this is
too slow for you, pressing a letter will `jump to' a color. For
instance, pressing `W' will choose `White'. `G' will cycle through
Green, Grey, Dk Grey, and Lt Green. The word `Sample' to the right
of the line changes color as you change the selection. Pressing F2
or ^U (CTRL-U) will copy Searchlight's default colors over the user's
current colors, and ^R will redraw the screen (for instance, in case
of line noise). F1 or ^J will bring up a couple of help screens,
just like in Searchlight's message editor.

In the unregistered version, the word `[UNREGISTERED]' appears in
place of the BBS name, and there's another bar under the `Press
ESC/^U/^R' line that says `UNREGISTERED!', also. However, this
software is NOT CRIPPLED and contains NO TIME DELAYS.

   Thanks To:

Richard Lis - Beta testing, Help screens and `jump-to' keys
Trey Piepmeier - Left/Right arrows as well as space/backspace
All the HCBBS users - Nagging, nagging, and more nagging. Thanks!
