Introduction
This is a simple utility for Reneagde that makes a "overheard
conversations" logon menu much like you see in Lord, Tradewars
and several other such games. Some call it a ONELINER, but I
didn't like any of the "oneliner" style utilities that i found
on Cotts BBS, so I wrote this one. It's very simple, using one
MNU and one batch file.

This utility works with versions 10-05-94 & 04-05-96 of Renegade.

                              Example Screens

Once installed and running, Hideaway Conversations will look basicially
like the following screens, of course a whole lot more colorful.

TIMBER.COM anywhere in your DOS path
QUOTE.ASC the MISC directory

HEADER.ASC MISC

                                Installation

(I've made these docs real simple so that any new Renegade sysop can
install this utility. I know most of you already know the basics
that I've included. I'm not assuming you need this much information,
I just don't want to leave anyone out)

Put the above listed files in their proper place and set QUOTE as your
startup menu in System Config. From the waiting for call screen, that's
S A J QUOTE <Enter> Q Q. It's just that easy!

If you already have a startup menu besides MAIN, then you'll have to
decide when you want QUOTE displayed. If you keep your startup menu,
have it exit to QUOTE instead of exiting to MAIN. If you want QUOTE to
be your new startup menu, have it exit to your current startup menu.
If you have a startup menu full of FIRSTCMDs, you should probably keep
that as your startup menu and have it exit to QUOTE. I put all my
FIRSTCMDs in my QUOTE.mnu so it serves both functions for me.

Security level s50 is required to add a new quote, and
if set up as described only one quote is allowed per call.

Detailed operation of the Conversation System

You'll probably want to modify your QUOTEs for your own tastes and colors.
To help in that task, I've included this section on operation, and the next
section on Customization.

QUOTE.MNU looks like this:

Menu filename: QUOTE
1. Menu titles :Add a Quote?
2. Help files :*Generic* / *Generic*
3. Menu Prompt :(y/N)?
4. ACS required :""
5. Password :*None*
6. Fallback menu :MAIN
7. Forced ?-level:None
8. Generic info :2 cols - 1/9/1
9. Flags :---P-------

NN:Command :Fl:ACS :Cmd:options
==:===========:==:=======:==:========================================
1 FIRSTCMD -- -F quote :Displays the Quote Banner
2 FIRSTCMD -- -F quote.all :Displays the Quotes
3 Y -- s50 -F header :Displays input header
4 Y -- s50 -Q quote.inf :Prompts for Quote
5 Y -- s50 D- quote.bat :Adds new Quote to QUOTE.ALL
6 Y -- s50 -F quote :Displays Banner again
7 Y -- s50 -F quote.all :Displays Quotes with new addition
8 Y -- s50 -L %pa :Pause
9 Y -- s50 -^ main :Goto Main
10 N -- -^ main :Goto Main
11 ENTER -- -^ main :Goto Main

                            SYSOP RETURN COMMAND

You can add the following command to your main menu or any other so
that you can return to the QUOTE menu without logging on again:

NN:Command :Fl:ACS :Cmd:options
==:===========:==:=======:==:========================================
37 /Q -- s255 -^ QUOTE :Return to Quote.Mnu

QUOTE.BAT looks like this:

cd\renegade\misc :Change to working directory
timber.exe quote.asw /lt:3 :Trim AnSWer file
copy quote.all + quote.asw quote.1 :Append AnSWer to Quote.All
del quote.all :"
ren quote.1 quote.all :"
timber.exe quote.all /lt:3 :Trim off highest Quote
copy quote.0 quote.asw :Reset Quote.Asw (Important!)

You can speed up operation slightly by giving the exact path locations
For example:
c:\renegade\util\quote.bat instead of just quote.bat (in the MNU)
c:\renegade\util\timber.exe instead of just timber.exe (in the .BAT)

                          CUSTOMIZATION of QUOTES

Change whatever you like about this program, but beware that all display
files need to remain the same lenght (in lines) or the display won't come
out properly. This applies to QUOTE.ASC, QUOTE.ALL, QUOTE.INF, QUOTE.0,
and HEADER.ASC. You can change the colors, text, MCI codes, ect, but
keep the line lenghts of the files the same.
This program is made for 24 line Renegade displays and won't display the
same if your local sysop screen is set for 23 lines.
