                                ---

  PCE-Magazine is free for everyone and spreading is encouraged. If you
  want to have a printed copy of the current issue (or from prior
  issues), call our BBS and post a message to us so we can work some-
  thing out.

  We will try to make this a very interesting zine with all kinds of in-
  formation that's usefull for almost anyone running PC-Express. Besides
  this textfile we incorporate much more in the archives that we make
  such as a list of all the BBS's in the world that are using PC-Express
  (registered and unregistered), a source file for an utility that some-
  one has coded (and one that works :-)), some ANSI- & ASCII-texts, a
  vote sheet etc.

  In the magazine itself we'll try to hold on to the following contents:

  a) General information,
  b) What's in the archive that you've got (downloaded),
  c) News from the author of PC-Express (Michael Feilen),
  d) Editorial section,
  e) Offered information,
  f) New things, bugs, idea's,
  g) FAQ's (a growing part),
  h) Short story (optional),
  i) PC-ExpressNet(c),
  j) Source section (MugSHot),
  k) Tool report I (Excalibur),
  l) Tool report II,
  m) List with released utilities and idea's for utilities that need
     to be coded,
  n) How to register your copy of PC-Express,
  o) List of people that have registered themselves this month,
  p) All the PC-Express HQ's,
  q) Distributors of this zine,
  r) End notes.

  We'll do much be we can't do it alone; if you have a source-file that
  you want to share with others so that they too can learn to code, if
  you have a textfile with important information, if you have an addi-
  tion to the list with (un-)registered BBS's in your country etc.
  please give it to one the people that is able to incorporate it in the
  next issue of the magazine. We all must try to make this zine interes-
  ting for us all.

  When you want to contact the author with submissions, your vote, com-
  plaints, idea's etc. write a message to one of the above mentioned In-
  ternet addresses, call our BBS or mail us at the following address:

  News from the Author (Michael Feilen)

  PC-Express version 1.2 is almost ready by now. During the past month
  we mainly worked on bugfixes for new features. Since the last report
  only a few new features were added, i.e. a new Flag Database where all
  flagged files are saved in case a user looses the courier or logs out
  from the system. This function enables the user to flag files which
  then may be transferred at a later time. All files remain flagged even
  if he looses the courier while working in the system. However, since
  this feature may not be of advantage to all users of the BBS, it may
  be switched ON or OFF in the CONFIG.EXE. Additionally, as of this new
  version of PC-Express the field 'BATCH STATUS' will be shown in the
  large transfer screen, meaning that you can see the file names of the
  last six files that were sent during this transfer. During an upload,
  PC-Express will now also check all file areas of a conference on du-
  plicate files. In previous versions, this check was executed only in
  the upload area.
  The transfer routine was improved in the following way: If a user
  looses his courier during an upload, PC-Express will check whether the
  files are ok and will then post them automatically. With this function
  you can now simply hang up after the transfer rather then having to
  watch the posting. We are currently updating the documentation and PC-
  Express V1.2 now is in it's final beta-phase. Unless we find additio-
  nal major bugs, PC-Express V1.2 is expected to be released on the 1st
  of August, so let's hope that everything will go smoothly. See you,

  MICHAEL

  First I think that in the future you should use a batchfile that
  starts the viewer with a textfile; allways better hehe

  Then in the mag you write you've got 5 (I think) votes but i gave you
  3-5 you didn't listed in it, and you only write one new reg user in
  the list but we have got more! I have posted it to you here! and then
  you write that prowler is new but the swedish hq switsched to !

  but else the mag is realy great good work !

  | Fire Flood |
  `------------'

  Hello,

  Here's Fire Flood again, with maybe some nice idea's/improvements for
  PC-Express! (Maybe you remember me, Doctor dude).
  First of all, I just have one thing to say : It's nice to support PCE,
  because it isn't so much lame like S/X, which is already dead!
  PC-Express is already surviving for many years, so you don't pay for a
  program, that quits coding as lame as System/X!

  The PC-Express Magazine is a really nice idea! Keep it up! And please
  change your PC-Express list with (un-)registered boards in holland
  from THe PRaYiNG SuNSHiNe to Supreme Union, operator Fire Flood, and
  as telephone number, that my board is offline (for now).

  Allright, here are some idea's, hints etc!

  - Make a language file for PC-Express, so we can all edit our own
    colors for the prompts, edit our own prompts (like the (Pause)...
    Space to resume prompt). This way you can also disable the lazy four
    (4) colors in the CONFIG program (System Express idea),

  - Make a option in the CONFIG program that you can choose how you want
    the status bar; on top, on the bottom or none at all,

  - Make another option in the CONFIG program for the status bar, so you
    can choose your personal colors of it,

  - Change the file tagger, maybe with numbers before it, so users can
    tag with numbers, I believe TheList did this. So maybe you can get a
    source from TheList from good old SPiDER, and update/convert it for
    the current PC-Express version,

  - Make a new 'C' option! Like System Express, you could configure some
    more comment operators. Maybe put in a hardcoded ansi screen, which
    shows a little ansi with system operators, just like the util(s)
    from Nailz, The Doctor, Pygor and MugSHot,

  - Make a nicer 'WHO' option just like in Ami Express! like this:

  .---+---------------------+---------------------+---------------------+----.
  |Nd#| Name/Handle         | Location            | Action              |Chat|
  )---+---------------------+---------------------+---------------------+----(
  |01 | Fire Flood          | Supreme Union       | WHO                 |YES |
  |02 |                     |                     | AWAITING CONNECT    |NO  |
  |03 | Insane Madamn       | Supreme Union       | MULTICHAT           |YES |
  |04 | Jopiter             | The Coffeeshop      | MULTICHAT           |YES |
  |---+---------------------+---------------------+---------------------+----|
  `--------------------------------------------------------------------------'

  - Put a screen clearing code in the 'W' command, just before you write
    the 1.  Handle              :
        2.
        stuff!

  - Put another few MCI codes in PC-Express! Like replace the '' MCI
    code for @WAIT@ or @ENTER@ or something, and one that you can show a
    ANSI file in the NODE dir, just like the door mci code |!DOORNAME
    thing,

  - When a user wants to login, and has forgotten his password, PCE just
    hangs up immediately, maybe you should make an option in the CONFIG
    program so that the user can be asked to leave a message to the sys-
    tem operator saying so that he has forgotten his password

  Allright, these were just a few things i really thought that should
  change in PC-Express... If you think you should have some artist work
  done for PC-Express, like a nice ANSI, you can always request it in a
  message to me, or call me at my voice number. And if you don't under-
  stand something in this file, you can also contact me voice.

  My voice number is (31) 01731 9741, you should ask for Laurens and you
  can call me (if you call) from 16:00 to 21:00..

  Allright, this was it for this time, if i should think of anything
  else, i will make another textfile for you lazy PC-Express coders :))

  Fire Flood out..

  P.S.
  I'm thinking of making a program that makes a nice list of bbs's that
  are using a (un-)registered version of PC-Express. Just like the BBS-
  lists out here in Holland. Because that list is very very.. hwell.. :)

  Click...

  A few code requests I think are very usefull for PCX SysOps:

  1.) /X like BoSSToP Weekly... this is a very usefull util, it needs to
      show the ammount of uploaded bytes/files per week (top ten users).
      The /X version automaticly writes an EALL message on a by the sys-
      op predefined day. Maybe it's an idea to give the top uploader a
      reward (in credz ... user defined ofcoz),

  2.) /X like BoSSToP Monthly (same as the weekly version but then for
      the top uploaders per month ... pretty obvious eh),

  3.) AZCii order door. This door is also very handy for SysOps with azcii
      artists in their userbase. Users can online order azciiz from a by th
      sysop defined list of artists ... Door must then write a message to
      the specific artist with info on who has requested a azcii and ofcoz
      what the azcii should be all about.

  4.) /X conference selector (/X colors ... /X lay out ... sorry GPS, but
      your's comes not even close to the real thing ... Einstein did a pretty
      good job with JOIN.ZIP (JOIN2.ZIP lost count a bit, but his /X conf.
      select door works only with a fossil config, it shouldn't be that hard
      to make a UART version ???

  5.) /X bulletin select door (like Mugshot's OPEN door)

  Well I'm a great fan of utils that use the colors as defined in the
  config of PCE (I am pretty lazy ;)

  New things / Bugs / Idea's

  // Short explanation:  New things, bugs and idea's are written random;
  the name of the person discovered it out is written between hooks //

  What we can offer you this month is a report of what v1.20 can do bet-
  ter then it does so far. Many people have called us and said (or typed
  in) their message. We must say that some problems already are solved,
  but nevertheless we provide you with the whole list:

  - When the SysOp performs a fast SysOp logon (F1), place his/her name
  in PCEDoor.daX so that the matrix also works (this only goes for call-
  ing local) (MugSHot),

  - When you're in the UserEditor, select a specific user and go to page
  3, move to the option: "Computertype". There you have made spelling
  mistakes in the descriptive line at the bottom (The Doctor),

  - Also a spelling mistake with the descriptive line at the option:
  Subenabled: It is written down as funCtion and not as funKtion (The
  Doctor),

  - Mistake made with number of Hacktimes: 1 number should be the maxi-
  mum, but the <space> stands AFTER that number which means that 2 num-
  bers could be written down instead of one (The Doctor),

  - And you also made a spelling bug with the descriptive line at the
  option: Expirepreset (The Doctor),

  - In the config.exe at the Language setup: When exiting this menu, you
  write down: Exit Chattime setup instead of: Exit language setup (The
  Doctor),

  - The FR command ONLY works for the Upload dir, not for All file-areas
  (The Doctor),

  - Scan for new files since last call:
  1. has to be in a standard ANSI colour
  2. doesn't work when the user gives an <enter> to execute the default
  3. must have an <space> after [Y/n]
  (The Doctor)

  - Go to the third page a for specific user in the usered.exe and go to
  the "LANGUAGE" option. When you are browsing with your cursorkeys sud-
  denly there's the user-number, e.g. 5/218 (The Doctor),

  - Let the SysOp's assign commands to specific function-keys!, e.g. let
  the upload routine work when the user pressed RZ; let the user logoff
  when he/she presses "bye". I hope that you can do that in v1.20 (Po-
  werbyte),

  - Place 1 extra empty line after that PC-Express finishes it's new fi-
  les scan; in that way "conference 3 auto-rejoined" isn't straight be-
  neath the last file_id.diz from the new files scan (The Doctor),

  - Please add the connectstrings 31k2 and 33k6 (Caligula),

  - When the subscription date is expired PC-Express shows the file Sub-
  Date.a* to the user(s). Let the SysOp decide whether he/she wants to
  display that file OR write a mail to that (those) user(s)!, so please
  make it an option for the SysOp. This mail should then be send to the
  user(s) a few days (SysOp selectable) before the account expires (The
  Doctor & Caligula),

  - The Subscription (config.exe, page 3) doesn't work in v1.19 (Caligu-
  la),

  - PC-Express runs very, very slow with multi-node systems. SysOp with
  two or three nodes say that it hardly works! Could you improve that in
  the next version (Powerbyte),

  - Some guys asked if the file-description that belongs to an archive
  could be placed on ONE screen, not that the first half stands on one
  screen and the second half on the next screen. I myself like it the
  way it is! (Abrupt Descent),

  - When a person uploads a file and that file already exists on the
  BBS, Z-modems aborts the transfer and PC-Express outputs "Nothing new
  received"; maybe it's better to output "File already exists" so that
  that exactly knows why his uploading was terminated (Caligula),

  - When a user wants to download more then one file from the BBS, make
  a total of the amount of files, bytes and time (I forgot who :-) ),

  - When a user wants to flag (a) file(s), add a background colour (e.g.
  blue) when he/she stands on a file; this is much more clearly then
  only using "<" (Caligula),

  - When we use F1, take care of the fact of sending ASCII chracters
  above 156 (kNIGHT fIGHTER),

  - When we are in chatmode (F1), make an option so that the user with
  the right security level (Co-SysOp) can also press an equivalent of F1
  and the chatmode stops (kNIGHT fIGHTER),

  - When we are in chatmode (F1), stop the input from the user when ty-
  ping yourself. This has to be an option in the Config.exe (kNIGHT
  fIGHTER),

  - There are mistakes made with the batch status screen, e.g. when the
  filenames are:  MICHAEL.ZIP,  PYGOR.ZIP,  MUGSHOT.ZIP, DOCTOR.ZIP, the
  batchscreen looks like this:

  MICHAEL.ZIP
  PYGOR.ZIP
  MUGSHOT.ZIZIP     <--
  DOCTOR.ZIZIP      <--

  (The Doctor),

  - The DirX.txt listings aren't correct when people use <TABS> in their
  File_Id.diz (=zEn=),

  - There are still some mistakes in the big transfer screen: It has to
  be adDress instead of adress and "Crc32" must be placed to the right
  (The Doctor).

                              PC-ExpressNet(c)
      Documentation written by The Doctor, X-TReMe BBS, June 1995.

 Well, the time has come; after several years of development, PC-Express
finaly gets a worldwide network that is going to connect (almost) all
people that use this Bulletin Board System. PC-Express starts with the
worldwide network after it has changed it's current messagebase with
JAM-base; this all will be done in version 1.30. Until that time we have
to decide how we can make the best out of the network. What mail- and
file-areas should be in the network? PC-ExpressNet(c) is made for every-
one, so you will have to decide what areas are going to be made.

 If everything goes well, PC-ExpressNet(c) gets the Net-number "123"; I
thought that everyone should be able to count to three :-). Beneath I
will display a general scheme of how PC-ExpressNet(c) will be arranged:

                     PC-ExpressNet WHQ (123:0/0) ->----------->---.
                                                                  |
                                                                  V
   .-------<----------------<- Euro HQ (123:1/0) <---------<------|
   |                              USHQ (123:2/0) <---------<------|
   |                     Australian HQ (123:3/0) <---------<------|
   V                        African HQ (123:4/0) <---------<------|

                                                                  |

   |                                        etc.
   |
   |---------> Hub 1 (123:1011/1)/(123:1011/100) ->---------------.
   |---------> Hub 2 (123:1011/2)/(123:1011/200)                  |
   `---------> Hub 3 (123:1011/3)/(123:1011/300)                  V
                                            etc.                  |
                                                                  |
   .------<---------------<- Node (123:1011/101) <----------<-----|
   |                         Node (123:1011/102) <----------<-----|
   V                         Node (123:1011/103) <----------<-----'
   |                                        etc.
   |
   |------>------------>- Point (123:1011/101.1)
   |------>------------>- Point (123:1011/101.2)
   `------>------------>- Point (123:1011/101.3)
                                            etc.

 A list will be generated out of the applications that we receive from
everyone. The first thing that we have to determine is who are going to
be the different HQ's:

World HQ (123:0/0) ---------------->
European HQ (123:1/0) ------------->
USA HQ (123:2/0) ------------------>
Australian HQ (123:3/0) ----------->
African HQ (123:4/0) -------------->
Asian HQ (123:5/0) ---------------->

 Then we'll have to know who the HQ's of each country are going to be; I
suggest that the support sites of PC-Express take care of this. They
will have to make a list with who the Hosts, Hubs, Nodes and Points in
their country are going to be. When I know all this information, I can
make a Nodelist and maintain this list to the fullest extend. As soon as
something changes everyone is provided with updated information as soon
as possible.

 This all has to be worked out in the next month. When the HQ's and
other hosts are determined, we can start with the network. I hope that
we all do what's best for the network. HQ's, Hosts and Hubs have to poll
every day (preferable) in order to keep the time between question and
answer short enough; nodes and points can poll a few times in one week.
They can decide that for themselves.

 Then to the mail- and file-areas. Please know that if you have idea's
about mail- and/or file-areas, drop them in a message or something like
that and give them to us. We really would like to know what YOU want.

          PC-ExpressNet(c) - FREE (no costs) for everyone!

In this textfile I'm working out the areas of PC-ExpressNet(c). Please
give me as much idea's as possible so we can start with a very interest-
ing network! Pygor said the following: " The HQ stands for support so
this is the first area that we will include. Security is the most impor-
tant thing in PC-Express since PC-Express is run on mostly commercial
boards. Then we must know how PC-Express is developing; new versions,
new options, new tools etc. We also need to know what users would like
to see in te new versions or new utils, this could be the main source of
many ideas. We will also include an ANSI/ASCII area in which GFX artists
can exhibit their arts. Users can also write adds in the adds area. If
you would like to chat with someone on PC-ExpressNet(c) you can use the
chat area."

  This time it's about the pkDirX unit which I coded and is present in
  the \SRC directory in this archive.

  This unit was written to be provide a coder with a good unit for
  reading/writing and searching in the DirX.txt files.

  First of all I must make the statement that this unit is 100% my own
  code and that I didn't use the white knight's DIRXUNIT to program this
  beauty...

  pkDirX is a stand alone unit that may be used by everyone.

  pkDirX has 4 functions that should make processing dirx.txt files ezy:

  Function pkDirXGetFile(fn : String; Conference : Byte;
                         var pkDir: pkDirXRecord):Byte;

  {* Searches a conference for a filename.
     Returns filename/fileext/filesize/exists/pay/filedate/file_id.diz
     Return codes:    0 - found
                      1 - not found.                                  *}

  Function pkDirXFindFirst(Conference, Area : Byte;
                         var pkDir : pkDirXRecord):Byte;

  {* Gets the first entry in an area.
     Returns filename/fileext/filesize/exists/pay/filedate/file_id.diz
     Return codes:    0  - found
                      1  - no dirx.txt in this area.
                      2  - error resetting dirx.txt
                                                                      *}
  Function pkDirXFindNext(var pkDir : pkDirXRecord):Byte;
  {* Gets the next entry in an area.
     Returns filename/fileext/filesize/exists/pay/filedate/file_id.diz
     Return codes:    0  - found
                      1 - end of dirx.txt in this area
                      2  - error resetting dirx.txt
                                                                      *}

  Function pkDirXAdd(Conference, Area : Byte; pkDir : pkDirXRecord;
                     check:boolean; xline:boolean):Byte;

  {* Adds a file entry to a dirx.txt file.
     Gets the file entry from pkDirXRecord.
     check=false if you just want to add your record and you are sure it
     isn't already in that conference.
     So if you're not sure use 'true' and the file entry will only be added
     if it wasn't in the same conference file.
     Check=true if you want to add a blank line between the last entry and
     the entry that should be added
     Return codes: 0 - added entry
                      1 - no dirx.txt
                      2 - already in dirx.txt (only if you specify true)
                      3 - error resetting dirx.txt
                                                                      *}

  First of all the file_id.diz is read which alone is an nice improvemt
  over DIRXUNIT.

  This unit can check if a file entry is already in a dirx.txt file and
  therefor will not add it, but this option can be turned off.

  The only thing that is missing is the option to search for a text
  string in file_id.dizs, but I didn;t have the time to do that now but
  I will do that later.

   CONCLUSION

  + reads file_id.diz in a fast way!
  + can check if file entry exists before adding it
  + can add an extra blank line between file entrys
  + no bugs..
  - nice would be to be able to search for a string

    TOOL : NEWUSER...APPL4AXX REViEWED BY: MugSHot
    CODER     : DOC HOLIDAY
    SHORT DESC: REPLACES SCRIPT FILES / SERVES AS A DOOR FOR NEWUSERS

  Oke..after deleting about 9 info/bbs addies I finally found the exe,
  doc and some external files of the door...

  Strange enough I couldn't find a version number, so I would like to
  urge the coder to add one so it is easier for the reviewer and the
  sysop to know what he/she is dealing with.

  The idea of this tool is that you don't need your script files and
  newusers can fill in a question list in a nice way. The tool uses cur-
  sor keys with which the user can easily scroll from question to
  question.

  The whole tool seems to nicely compatible with pc-express since the
  answers should be readeble from your usereditor.

  Something I told the coder at the beginning but what he ignored is
  that the tool needs a special directory namely. %BBSDIR%\TOXIC. It is
  very irritating to have to create a directory for a tool, all tools
  tools should be put in one directory e.g. %BBSDIR%\TOOLS...

  Then the output of the screen, the idea of this door is good but I
  would like to see that I can put the question anywhere I want to and I
  want to set the the back- and foreground colours.

   CONCLUSiON

   + COMPATIBILITY WITH USEREDITOR
   + NO LONGER DO YOU NEED THE SCRIPT FILES
   - NOT VERY CONFIGURABLE
   - SPECIAL DIRECTORY FOR THE TOOL
   - QUESTIONS CANNOT BE PUT ON THE SCREEN WHERE THE SYSOP WANTS THEM

  In overall this tool needs some work, but I am sure that DOC HOLIDAY
  will try to make this door a better one. Good Luck!

    SHORT DESC: PROTECTS AGAINST DOWNLOADING FROM THE MESSAGEBASE

  After reading the doc file there's not really much to say other then
  this door only checks the message base whether a file to the user who
  is logging in has an illigaly attached file to it.

  But there lies the problem with this tool, if this tool only checks
  messages at logon, then hacking is still possible, because the hacker
  will attach a file and then do a global mail scan, receiving his mes-
  sage, downloading it and then deleting it and this tool would just be
  sleeping...

   CONCLUSION

    - CHECKS AT LOGON BUT HACK IS STILL POSSIBLE
    - ONE BIG CRASH WITH Pc-Express 1.20

    SHORT DESC: New message base cruncher for PC-Express v1.19+

  After reading the  accompanied documentation, I decided to let it run;
  it starts immediatly, so you'll have to be sure of what you're doing.
  You will get to see an ANSI-text and two lines at the bottom that show
  you the progress that the program makes. It scans all your conferences
  for deleted messages, kills them from your Headers.dat and Msgtxt.dat
  and rearranges them so that your msgbase will be clean again.

  As a computer-preak, I'm allways very carefull for virii etc. The tool
  doesn't show much of what it's doing. At the end, it did NOT return to
  the DOS-prompt; I had to press "CTRL-BREAK".  Then I look what it did;
  the message-bases were rearranged perfectly.

   CONCLUSION

  Maybe the coder should spent some time on improving his tool; then I
  think that many SysOp could use it (I certainly will)!.

  + Message-bases are cleaned and rearranged perfectly,
  - Program doesn't return to the DOS-prompt,
  - Could it be that there's a problem with big message bases?,
  - Program shows what it's doing in a very restrictive way.

    CODER     : The WHiTE KNiGHT
    SHORT DESC: Tool that shows ANSI-files. MCI codes are allowed.

  This archive contains NO documentation; explanation is entered when
  executing the tool (or in the File_Id.diz). In this way no information
  about the MCI-codes that can be used is given (are the MCI-codes all
  the codes that PC-Express uses?). Then the tool displays the file but
  doesn't redirect it to your COM-port. I even have typed the sentence:
  ViewMCI.exe Hello.txt >COM%5 (or e.g. COM2), but it kept displaying it
  on my screen only.

   CONCLUSION

  - no accompanied documentation,
  - no redirection of the text to the user; what's the use for PCE?

    SHORT DESC: Adds a text to a File_Id.diz.

  After reading the documentation (1 page) I tried it on an archive; the
  program works relative fast and adds the file FIZDIZ.TXT to the File_
  Id.diz in the uploaded archive. It adds one empty line before the FIX-
  DIZ.TXT and adds two empty lines after the FIXDIZ.TXT.

   CONCLUSION

    SHORT DESC: Replacement for the "s"-command.

  I have added the program of Doc Holiday to my s.bat and looked what it
  did; here are the results:

  - The version of the statistics door is v1.9, not v1.1 (as stated),
  - You also  have to put the file  "enter.ans"  in your  BBS-directory;
    this was not mentioned in the accompanied documentation,
  - When the location is too long, it goes further then the border,
  - The ratio can be upto 3 digits, not taken care of in the program,
  - There is no output for the BBS-location with PC-Express v1.20,
  - When pressing "a" or "i", you CAN'T return to the stats itself,
  - Output of "a" and "i" looks good,
  - When viewing the info screen, the output is one <space> after the
    first border like [ B, but when viewing the stats itself the data is
    written directly against the border like [T (yeah i know, I'm split-
    ting hairs :-),
  - Users with an Amiga-DOS operating system just can't see al those co-
    lours,
  - The "a" and "i" options should be mentioned in the ANSI itself,
  - When turning on ASCII mode, the stats itself are indeed correct, but
    the output for the "a" and "i" options are written down with colour
    15 of TheDraw (white), not with colour 7 (gray),
  - language selection does not work,
  - PC-Express does *NOT* save the comment that you add to a user so for
    now the comment-output will mostly be: "There is no information
    available" :-). Only when you create an user with the usereditor
    itself, the comment: "User created by Usereditor" will will be seen.

   CONCLUSION

    A few mistakes have been made, but nevertheless it's a good replace-
    ment for the "s"-command!

    CODER     : MUHADiB
    SHORT DESC: Adds an empty line after each File_Id.diz (DirX.txt)

   I wonder why muhadib added PROTECT! EXE/COM V2.0 to his exe because
   it is so easily removeable (which i ofcourse did), if he really wants
   to protect his exes from being altered by other people he should have
   used my protect unit I released...

   - dirchk.exe with protect! exe/com v2.0 : 3949 bytes
   - dirchk.exe original                   : 3616 bytes

   Okay, a tool that adds a blank line to each file entry in a dirx.txt.
   So, why is it called dirchk? It doesn't check anything it just adds
   a blank line between file areas!

   Then it says that this tool is for pce 1.18 only... hmm is it just me
   or has the dirx.txt format of pce been the same since v0.994?

   First I just executed the tool in a directory with no dirx.txt files
   what happens? craaaaash! runtime error 103. (bug no.1)

   Then I put 2 dirx.txt files in the same directory but dirchk.exe just
   stops after processing the first dirx.txt it encounters... (bug no.2)

   Then the main problem with DIRCHK... dirchk HAS TO BE in the same
   directory as the dirx.txt you want to change...
   Let's read that again shall we? - dirchk has to be in the same
   directory as the dirx.txt - At first you might think so what?!!?
   But then MugSHot explains: if I would have 12 conferences with each
   9 file areas I would have to copy dirchk.exe to EACH area in order to
   let dirchk find the dirx.txt file so:

   12 conference  x 9 areas x  3949 bytes = 426492 bytes...that's bigger
   than pc-express itself! (bug no.3)

   To show muhadib I am not the worst guy in the world i will give him a
   small hint: /\/ C H A N G E  T H A T ! ! \/\
   ahum.. here's how: Read confer.cfg and look up what the directories
   are for each file area then you can change the dirx.txt and you are
   sure you have the right one so bug no.2 is also solved in one blow...

   A program like I just described above should be about 7000 bytes big,
   saving my board about 419492 bytes....

   CONCLUSION

    - No documentation
    - 3 bugs in less then 5 minutes, I think that says it all really...
