@X0FAt 9.5 on the Richter Scale and XI on the Mercalli Scale (just
short of where objects are "thrown up into the air") the devastation is
complete. @X02A wise man would be in very good physical shape (health)
before entering this environment. The stench of raw sewage overpowers
you as you pick your way through the debris-littered streets. A downed
power line shorts out against a parked car and you note the family of three
dead inside it. You move on carefully, sadly.

@X0FThere is very little movement, aside from the shadows of looters
as they duck in and out of buildings and flit across the street, nervous
shadows running. @X02With each footfall, you fancy feeling the very
ground tremble beneath you and the knowledge that many people die
of heart attacks during earthquake events becomes a subtle, tangible fear.
How strong is your heart, anyway? You pause to consider this, then
continue on down the street. It is dark and dangerous here. Be careful.
