                        USBBSDoor Revision History
  ----------------------------------------------------------------------

This file describes the new features in recent USBBSDoor releases.

Please refer to USBBSDOR.DOC for a basic description of USBBSDoor.

  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  [ USBBSDoor 6.2 New Features 09/05/99 ] ----------------------------
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
* As of this release, USBBSDoor has been updated and continuously
supported for over TWELVE years! (7/6/87 - present).

* If you are using a version of USBBSDoor prior to 6.0 or 6.1 you must
read the section below for USBBSDoor 6.0 new features.

* With the January 2000 USBBS List, USBBSDoor would have displayed the
year incorrectly in the "Date Added" and "Last Updated" fields. This
  has been corrected.

* USBBS List #184 or later is required. Earlier versions of the USBBS
List will not work with USBBSDoor version 6.2. Obtain a current list
on the web at: www.usbbs.org or by BBS at: 727-842-8099.

  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  [ USBBSDoor 6.1 New Features 03/01/99 ] ----------------------------
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
* If you are using a version of USBBSDoor prior to 6.0 you -must- read
the section below for USBBSDoor 6.0 new features.

* NEW COMMAND: (W)eb BBS Listings. This displays all of the entries on
a USBBS List which contain a Web BBS address. Web BBS addresses are
new to the USBBS List (#178) since the last release of USBBSDoor.

* When a USBBS listing is marked for deletion (for chronic no-answer
conditions), USBBSDoor will now state this on the "Focus" line when
  the listing is displayed.

* The (I)nternet Services search was removed from USBBSDoor, since the
information is no longer in the USBBS List (as of USBBS #178).

  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  [ USBBSDoor 6.0 New Features 8/30/98 ] -----------------------------
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
* VERY IMPORTANT FOR PREVIOUS USERS: USBBSDoor 6.0 is now a "DOOR.SYS"
door. All specific BBS "modes" have been removed along with support
for the variants of different door "drop" files. Specifically:
    - PCBoard and Wildcat modes have been removed. PCBoard Sysops will
need to tell PCBoard to create DOOR.SYS when running USBBSDoor.
Wildcat (DOS) Sysops will not need to change anything.
    - If you were using USBBSDoor in a "generic DOOR.SYS mode", you do
not need to change anything with your BBS regarding USBBSDoor.
    - All others i.e. pcboard.sys and dorinfo.def and variants need to
tell your BBS software to create a DOOR.SYS file for USBBSDoor.

* PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED USERS: If you registered a previous version of
USBBSDoor, you must contact the author and obtain a new registration
number (-no charge-). Registration numbers from earlier versions of
USBBSDoor will not work with USBBSDoor 6.x. See the ORDER.DOC file.

* ALL NEW DISPLAY FORMAT FOR USBBS LIST VIEWING: USBBSDoor now expands
the one-letter codes and symbols used in the USBBS List while the
caller is viewing the list. This "expansion" turns the one-line of
information per BBS in the USBBS List into four lines of information
  displayed to the caller.

* INSTANT AREA CODE SEARCHES: USBBSDoor automatically builds an area-
code index. When a search involves an area code such as (A)rea-code,
(T)ext in area-code, (B)rand in area code, etc. the results will be
  displayed instantly.

* NEW COMMAND: (L)ist Telnet boards. This displays the entries on the
USBBS List which contain a Telnet address. Telnet addresses are a
new feature of the USBBS List since the last version of USBBSDoor.

* AUTOMATED MONTHLY MAINTENANCE has been greatly enhanced:
  - USBBSDoor now uses -internal- ZIP extraction routines to extract
the USBBSxxx.LST. There is no more shelling to PKUNZIP (although
PKUNZIP use can be forced, see USBBSDOR.DOC). USBBSDoor extracts
      USBBSxxx.LST from USBBSxxx.ZIP when:
      (a) a USBBSxxx.ZIP is detected that is newer than the currently
          extracted USBBSxxx.LST, or
      (b) no USBBSxxx.LST is found.
  - The Sysop may elect to have USBBSDoor delete the USBBSxxx.LST file
when a caller exits USBBSDoor (for good housekeeping purposes).
When the next caller enters the door, USBBSdoor will extract the
list using its -internal- ZIP routines. This setting is found on
      the USBBSDoor setup screen.
  - If the Sysop desires, USBBSDoor will add a "ZIP comment" to the
USBBSxxx.ZIP file whenever a USBBSxxx.LST is extracted. The file
is called COMMENT.USB and must be located in the same location
as USBBSDOR.EXE. COMMENT.USB -must- be created by the Sysop and
must be 2K (2000 bytes) or less. Note: USBBSDoor adds the file
to the "comment area" of the ZIP, not to the ZIP member files.

* INTERNAL TRANSFER PROTOCOLS: USBBSDoor now contains several internal
file transfer protocols for downloading the USBBS list. These are:
      (X) Xmodem checksum
      (C) CRC Xmodem
      (O) 1K-Xmodem
      (Y) Ymodem
      (G) Ymodem-G
USBBSDoor will still use external protocols via SEND.BAT if desired,
such as Zmodem, etc. See USBBSDOR.DOC for complete instructions.

* USBBSDoor is now year 2000+ compliant.

* The /NOTIME command-line switch which forced USBBSDoor to -not- give
time back to detected multitaskers (Windows, OS/2 and DESQview) has
been moved to a setup parameter on USBBSDoor's installation screen.

* Since there are two "accepted" two-letter abbreviations for Quebec,
USBBSDoor will display QC listings when PQ or QC is input as a state
(province) search. The USBBS List uses QC for all concerned entries.

* Display "menu-type" files such as MENU, HELP and HELLO are no longer
used. These are now "hard-coded" into USBBSDoor. The "BRAND" file
is no longer used, instead when a caller wants to search for a brand
of BBS software the currently used abbreviations are displayed using
information from the USBBSxxx.LST currently in use.

* USBBSDoor no longer creates USBBS.INF for (U)SBBS Info and USBBS.SYM
for (E)xplain Symbols. The (E)xplain Symbols command was no longer
needed since USBBSDoor fully "expands" symbols used in the list. The
info for "(U)SBBS Info" is now taken from USBBSxxx.LST "on the fly".
If you have an earlier version of USBBSDoor installed, you should
remove those two files from the USBBSDoor directory.
