Okay.. I heard a story not long ago that shocked me...

seems many of the BBS Sysops (and a few users) think that anyone running a
BBS that is not Y2K compatible after 1/1/2000 is lame and all their users
are lame...

Well, if you want then, add me to the list of LAME BBSers, because i'm staying
you people have so much to learn...

people don't go to a BBS because "ooh look! i can run 759 ports make a pot of
coffee, do the dishes AND get you a cold bud" The g oto it because they can
meet people in their area and the system is set up for them to have fun
talking to people in Message Bases (i'm largely into message bases) and they
can get out of their world by playing these cool games (for many people it's
a cool blast from the past seeing all tese really good games that don't
require 16 zillion colors and 900 gig ram to play)

It's a place to meet NEW people, and if people enjoy themselves they will
bring others... if people are leaving, that should be a sign.. and it's NOT
the net.. i've seen many people leave the net (at least partally) for BBS's
some of my friends now go 50/50 with net and BBS's and calls up several BBS's
in the area.....

It's a place to get cool files! i was amazed how easy it was to see if a file
was here... has anyone tries finding a file at yahoo.geocities.com? (yes..
yahoobought out geocities).. it's impossible.. you do a search on anime and
youget candle stick making, then info about a 1967 chevy, maybe item number
500 or 600 will have the item you want.... here takes 1-3 minutes and you know
if it is there or not.

It's a place to plan get togethers! after meeting people on here in person i
was so glad that i was introduced to BBS's... it's MUCH easier to set up a
group get together on here then on the net, because HERE there is a better
chance that most of the people live nearby if you are doing a local message
base....

Finally.. I'll end this by saying that if you think BBS's are dead, you are
part of the problem not the solution.. get your butt in gear and start
advertizing BBS's before they are gone or else you will spend 9 hours a day
looking at "103 file not found" and "108 you don't have access to this", and
10 years of leg...

Have a nice day everyone.
