  XENOTERRA (TM) BBS v1.00b1 -- README.TXT -- 14 APR 1999
============================================================

NOTICE!
This is a BETA version of the software. While every
effort has been made to ensure proper functionality,
bugs will no doubt remain. As with any software,
please ensure that all vital information on your
system is backed up before installing this software!

ABOUT THE LIMITED BETA
This is a "limited" beta. It does not include all of
the functionality that future betas and the final
product will include. It is intended primarily as a
hardware and software compatibility test, to uncover
bugs that cannot be found easily with the limited
setup available to the developer. As bugs are
discovered and corrected, updated versions of the
components will be posted on the official web site
(see below). Also watch the web site for documentation
and new plug-ins as additional functionality is
   implemented.

INSTALLATION
This limited beta does not include an installation
program. To install, simply create a directory from
which you wish to run the BBS and copy all .EXE and
.DLL files to that directory. To launch the BBS,
run the XENOBBS.EXE file. If you launch this program
from a shortcut or from the command line (DOS prompt),
ensure that the working directory is the same as the
BBS's install directory, otherwise it will not be able
to find its configuration files and/or will place them
   in the wrong location.

UNINSTALLATION
To uninstall, simply delete the install directory and
all of its contents (including subdirectories, if any).
No registry entries or system components are added by
Xenoterra, so nothing else is required to be cleaned up.

REVISION HISTORY
   14 Apr 1999 (Build 311)
-- More changes to input code. Should fix remaining
         problems with non-telnet-compliant terminal
         clients over telnet connections.

   13 Apr 1999 (Build 310)
-- Slight changes to string input code (hopefully
fixes some EOL problems with certain termainal
         clients).

   12 Apr 1999 (Build 309)
-- Plug-in locations are now stored as relative
paths rather than absolute, provided that the
plug-in is located in the Xenoterra directory
or one of its subdirectories (as it should be).
This way, the BBS can be successfully moved to
         another directory or drive.
-- Added "badnames.txt" name blocking feature.
-- Added display of "rules" file (.ans or .txt) upon
successful creation of new user account.
      -- Minor GUI updates

   03 Apr 1999 (Build 290)
-- Initial release of limited beta
