Sorry if my statement before mis-led you.  I don't have vonage -- but
was stating what I had heard so that perhaps those that know could
either confirm or deny the rumor.

Reading between the lines, it seems if modems can work over at least
some VOIP, and the rumor I'd heard is not true.
