Maybe your disk is partition in ETP you must use this 
procedure for make visible to Xp:

1) run cmd prompth on menu start xp
2) from prompth od cmd launch command DISKPART
3) select disk / number disk  (example selectdisk 2 )
4) CLEAN
5) from manage h.d. look ad new disk and use command Create New Partition
    assign new letter if it has no one , and  then format.

6) now you must have disk D:
