That was the issue! ASIAN_LINK was probably the only area Carol had me 
subscribed to (be default) and I had the tag wrong because that was the 
only area I added manually (the others I added with FIDONET.NA) I changed the 
tag to ASIAN_LINK (no S) then created a new test message and it went through.

Thanks for this explanation. I'm working on this now, and I will refer back 
to these instructions to get my other echos subscribed.
