Subj : Fidopoll BSY Files? To : All From : Jeff Smith Date : Mon Sep 02 2019 09:07 pm Hello There, Here is some behavior that I have noticed recently between Mystic and other BBS/Mailers with regard to polling. No /home/mystic/semaphore/fidopoll.bsy file exists mystic@sbbs:~$ ./fidopoll 1:3634/12 Looking up address "1:3634/12" in nodelist Scanning 1:3634/12 Queued 0 files (0 bytes) to 1:3634/12 Polling BINKP node 1:3634/12 (Mark Lewis) by IPV4 Connecting to sestar.synchro.net Connected IPV4 to 75.89.249.167 System SouthEast Star (binkd) SysOp waldo kitty Location central North Carolina, USA Info NDL 115200,CM,IBN Info TIME Mon, 2 Sep 2019 22:28:50 -0400 Mailer binkd/1.1a-99/Linux binkp/1.1 Info TRF 0 0 Session ended (0 sent, 0 rcvd, 0 skip) mystic@sbbs:~$ ./fidopoll 21:1/128 Looking up address "21:1/128" in nodelist Scanning 21:1/128 Queued 0 files (0 bytes) to 21:1/128 Polling BINKP node 21:1/128 (Jeff Smith) by IPV4+IPV6 Connecting to bbs.ouijabrd.net Connected IPV4 to 65.103.12.161 mystic@sbbs:~$ After the second running of Fidopoll and the return to a command prompt. The existing fidopoll.bsy file was not deleted. It looks like the connection was not completed properly by either Mystic or in this case BBBS. I have had transaction issues between Mystic and BBBS before but not regarding bsy file management. Upon testing I find that if I restrict connections to only use IP4 then the second connecton results in: mystic@sbbs:~$ ./fidopoll killbusy all No /home/mystic/semaphore/fidopoll.bsy file exists mystic@sbbs:~$ ./fidopoll 21:1/128 FIDOPOLL Version 1.12 A43 2019/03/02 Looking up address "21:1/128" in nodelist Scanning 21:1/128 Queued 0 files (0 bytes) to 21:1/128 Polling BINKP node 21:1/128 (Jeff Smith) by IPV4 Connecting to bbs.ouijabrd.net Connected IPV4 to 65.103.12.161 System The Ouija Board SysOp Jeff Smith Location Anoka, MN - bbs.ouijabrd.net Mailer BBBS/Li6 v4.10 Toy-4 binkp/1.0 Info NDL CM,IBM,IFT,INA Session ended (0 sent, 0 rcvd, 0 skip) mystic@sbbs:~$ I should note that I currently have separate IPV6toIPV4 tunnels in use for both the Mystic and BBBS system and have not noticed any other connection anomalies with the use of IPV6 connections.
