You > just use IP addresses instead of FQDNs. It will not even fire up on my linux machine. I keep getting "segmentation faults." My understanding is that is because of the missing, old dependencies. I don't think it has anything to do with using ip addresses vs. FQDNs. I would not mind installing the required, old packages if (1) I knew what they were, and (2) they would not break anything else that runs on the machine. From experience, I suspect #2 is not a reasonable expectation.
