If you did have a reliable internet connection, I'd suggest "Harmony Central" 
as a good place to look up soures for most guitar instruction online. Since 
your connection is poor, you'll end up frustrated...Learning anything new takes 
time, and you need to have reliable access. I believe your best bet is a "Mel 
Bay" type book containing the rudimentary aspects...with a book or tape, 
yo0u're not at the mercy of subpar technology
