No, it's actually built on the spot.  The act of initiating a download of that
filename will cause the packet to be built, before it's sent via FTP.

You did say "point" not "QWK" - different beast. :)

How many times do I have to say a POINT DOES NOT FIT!!! (mentioned that at
least half a dozen times in the past week alone ;) ).  Because it's an
independent system, and is not synchronised with the BBS.  QWK, OTOH uses the
same last read pointers and area subscriptions, regardless of what device you
read the packets on, since they're stored on the BBS.
