I wonder if DOSBox-X is negotiating the telnet connection correctly. You have to send AT+NET1 to the 'modem' to properly enable the telnet protocol. (though it's possible this may be different if you're on a different version than I've been using) The telnet negotiation bytes might appear like line noise otherwise. (a theory) I hadn't noticed the connection being slower, I wonder if that is because DOSBox-X is emulating the com port speed while maybe DOSBox-Staging doesn't delay the bytes to match com port speed. I just manually type in ATDTaddress to connect, for the boards that don't fit into the Telix dialing directory. Wa> Downloads always work but uploads are hit & miss. There's a bug in the DOSBox telnet implementation, it doesn't correctly escape FF bytes when sending (FF is also the IAC code used for telnet protocol negotiation). I've patched this in my copy of DOSBox-X but haven't upstreamed it anywhere yet. The good news is it's an easily solvable issue. Wa> I really like using Telix, it's pretty quick and responsive. I am running Telix 3.22 and found a keygen for it, I think it's the same version I remember running back in the day so I've been happy with it.
