It's not silly at all.  It's why I don't bother with PC BBSs.

Yeah, you're interested in that topic.  You go to the area.  You see 100
messages that are all the monthly rules postings going back 10 years and
nothing else.

You do this a few times... you get excited!  A message posted by someone
that isn't a rules post!

"Is anyone here?  Is this echo dead?" - no responses.

Then you leave, and you don't go back.
