It's not necessarily about being technologically adept. You don't need any more tech know-how to do anything on some of these Linux distributions these days than you do Windows. The issue is more than likely that you have been so used to running Windows over the course of 3-4 decades now, whereas you may have never once took the time to even look at Linux. So it's probably more about the fear of leaving your own comfort zone, than it is being some kind of 'Linux technogeek', or whatever you want to /think/ you need to be. By all means, if you like Windows, stick with it. If you don't want to be a "slave to the Windows plantation," use something like Virtualbox and install and tinker with a Linux distro where you can't do any harm to any of your cherished data. If you break something in said VM, you can just delete it, create a new one, and start over. Just /using/ it is how you learn it. Just like you did with Windows all that time ago. Even when a new version of Windows comes out, you have to use it, and over time you figure out how all the new stuff works. Linux is the exact same thing. Regards, Nick ....
