You could try starting MIS through 'strace', to get a trace/log of what it's doing: strace -f -vvv -s32768 /home/bbs/mystic/mis daemon 2>&1 | tee /tmp/mis.log ....or similar, as the BBS user. (Don't forget to set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable first, though, or the SSL support won't be attempted.) Once it appears to have started, abort the tracing/logging with Ctrl+C. Then have a look at /tmp/mis.log and look for any lines containg the string "ENO" (such as "ENOENT", indicating that it was looking for something but didn't find it). And perhaps "ssl.cert". Maybe that could give some clues as to what it does. Best regards Zip --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A49 2023/04/30 (Linux/64) * Origin: Star Collision BBS, Uppsala, Sweden (21:1/202) .
