going back to what you were asking about LD_LIBRARY_PATH being additive,
as an environment variable unless you include itself it is not, however
the runtime linker gets its paths from the ld cache (which is generated
when you run ldconfig - and the paths are in /etc/ld.so.conf, so the
system paths will still be searched, but the LD_LIBRARY_PATH will be
searched first.

as for a systemd script i imagine it would be valid for whatever systemd
spawns using that unit.
