Za> Certainly open to thoughts on this. I'd engage with artists on the Blocktonics FB page on this. In short I think no one likes having their work used without attribution but I too am not clear on what is acceptable use and what is not. It's likely going to differ a bit depending on who you talk with and what your thinking of doing. But if you put yourself in the place of the artist, imagine seeing 80% of your work on display with some of it missing, and it being used in a way / context that it was never designed for. So yeah, the idea of displaying art as it was created is fine, but if you're wanting to co-opt some older art then I'd reach out to the ANSI artistic community to see if you can either engage with the original artist or get a steer on some possible alternative art you could use with less issues. The really best way to go is to ask someone to draw something for you, you may end up paying them a commission (to be negotiated between you) but then you end up with something you want and it being created for the reasons you want to display/use it. Or, use a ANSI menu set like from ansi garden to achieve the same thing. In sum, best to seek info/help rather than just use... it will save you angst down the track and show the artistic community you are mindful of them :) Hope this helps.
