We held a memorial service for my mother yesterday. What you don't think
about when you experience the loss of a parent is trying to write a
eulogy that enompasses everything about someone who was such a large
part of who you've become.

People we didn't think would show up did, people we did expect didn't
show up, and it was a nice celebration of a life well spent.

My daughter and a friend of hers sung a hymn, just them and a piano. The
occasion, their singing and the acoustics got people misty-eyed.

Now, we're off to Russian river - a little bohemiam town up
near California's wine country to hang out, relax, read, go wine
tasting, barbecue and hopefully go tubing on the river if the levels are
high enough.
