If you kept your phone (the Atrix) back at the older Android version, the OS you'd get when docked was a full blown desktop Linux! Unfortunately, it wasn't maintained well by Motorola, but if you knew Linux stuff you could just install your own packages and software all you wanted. It was really cool because the entire environment would stay running even when the phone was out of the dock and not displaying any of the other programs at all. When you docked again, as long as your network connections didn't get interrupted, everything was exactly as if it had been running the whole time since you undocked. Since Motorola didn't want to maintain their own little "distro", they just changed the dock mode to be a blown-up version of the phone's display, completely ignoring the separate CPU and storage area for the desktop OS. And you couldn't downgrade to change back! Such a shame. It really was a wondrous device and I truly miss using it. My coworker saw me with the lapdock once and said "Can you do more than check your email with that thing?" heheh..
