yeah.. microsoft is in a bit of a bind in that respect. apple perhaps not so much because they sell hardware not an OS. that's a nice little machine, and if windows 11 runs on it why would you buy a new one?

microsoft has an incentive to convince you to throw away that hardware, because there's a small but probably measured chance you'll get a Surface computer from them. or worst case another PC with a licensed copy of windows, furthering the churn.

lenovo on the other hand.. their website used to have banners on all the driver download pages and information about older machines that "that machine you got from the e-waste recycler is dangerous!"

meanwhile it's still quite enjoyable to use my (a bit older) T530 Windows 7 machine to work on the BBS.. and that one WASTES 12GB of ram because it's a
32-bit install ;)
