Nice.  But I don't have another piece of hardware to dedicate  
with a linux install.  I really liked the sound of operating a  
VM and be able to use linux concurrently with my existing win7.

Meanwhile..  I was able to install VB 6.0.24 as per a  
suggestion here.  But it had the side effect of killing my  
internet connectivity.  After repeated attempts to refresh the  
internet settings (tailscale included) and several reboots with  
no success, I decided to roll back my system to a restore point  
just before I started with all this - including the python  
intall. That restored the internet functions.  Not sure if I  
want to even consider vmplayer after this experience.  :(
