I tremble when I need to move rather "small" 3.3GB files!

I currently move that across the network to another PC that has  
a USB HDD attached via USB 2

Ten times that size would be 32GB at 160min.  :(

And 10 times that would be about 3TB at 1600min == 26 hrs.  
That's close to what you're getting now.

Hope you track down the reason your transfers are so slow over  
USB 3.1.
