Jabber is like the IRC, it never seems to die. My web host used to offer
jabber servers, mine is grandfathered in. Glad to have it around if
needed.

I wonder how hard it would be to migrate BBS chat to xmpp? It'd be nice
to be able to federate chat services between BBSes in a standards-based
way. Synchronet can do a BBS to BBS chat, but it's proprietary (if
memory serves).
