I have put myself into "forget everything you know" so I don't make any assumptions. With the ciphers and hashing algos being busted one after the other, I wonder what would happen if aes256 managed to be broken, we don't have much choices available already. Cipher-Bloc-Chaining being deprecated now, when you setup a new system and want to pass with flying colors, your list of available ciphers is greatly reduced.
