I had never really had issues with HTTP(S) not downloading files completely.
(HTTP also supports reget if the server is not ancient).

But anyhow FTP, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS are all truckloads better than the original
idea.
(Stuff like zmodem or even xmodem ... shudder :( )
