Let's say you moderate an FTN echo. You have a user, let's call tehm Bee Felfaso, who posts off-topic messages that include references to human genetalia, bodily fluids, excrement, and other things. You as the moderator ask Bee to quit posting such nonsense in your echo. Bee responds that it is "freedom of speech" and that, since it is an FTN echo, you cannot moderate them. The Synchronet twitlist may not prevent their filth from proliferating to all other BBSes, but it will keep it off of your board and off of any board that gets their feed from you.
