Subj : CBBS officially went online 16 February 1978 To : All From : bcw142 Date : Wed Feb 16 2022 08:06 am This is the anniversary of the very first BBS system, CBBS officially went online today in 1978. It was the first public dial-up BBS developed by Ward Christensen and Randy Suess. It started as something to do during the blizzrd of 1978 when Christensen had a spare S100 bus computer and early Hayes modem. It was designed to work like a cork board at a local computer club and kept a count of callers. It connected 253,301 calls before it was retired. Your reading this on the modern version of that same system with a lot more bells and whistles and Internet connection now, but still a BBS. .... BREAKFAST.COM Halted...
