They have a release binary now on their git hub page so I didn't have to
compile it.. I'm not sure I would have bothered if I had to - getting old
stuff to compile is not usually something I'm good at.

I know they mention birthdays now have 4 digits (and they do).. perhaps
this first call thing was just an oversight.

Ah, I can imagine that would get under some people's skin.

Cool! I used EzyCom mostly, but I did have a short stint using proboard,
one of the other BBSes in Toowoomba used proboard back in the day though
I forget what it was called.
