I see that more as "abusing the legal system" than advocating for new laws, but
I also get your point re: Trump and conservatives.  That said, there were
lefties advocating for persons to be removed from social media and to be
silenced in other ways just because those lefties didn't like how the other
party was exercising their freedom of speech.

IMHO, the powerful, and extremists, on both sides advocate against free speech.
 It is not just a left or right thing.
 
Same thing with "book banning."
