If you send those over the encrypted SSH channel, then they
are encrypted and not sent over the wire in plaintext.  The
SSH protocol negotiates a cipher and hash and secret key,
used to enable encryption over the channel, before user data
is exchanged.

In some implementations there is a null cipher, but that
consideration is not at play here.
