The question should be: Why do you want to read? :) Telnet should never be used for the to-go bbs IMO. As a principle. However BBSing is something that has security issues. Like the user credentials - they're always transferred as plain text to the bbs at some point (however depending on the BBS it may not be stored as plain text).
