Yeah.  BitKeeper was Larry McVoy's baby; it was based on
some of the ideas for the VCS stuff he'd done at Sun when
he was working on SunOS, and was a DVCS.

The thing that he did was change the license in a way that
made Linus (and the other Linux kernel people) uncomfortable.
So Linus wrote `git`.  Larry and Linus do get along, still.
The `git` in `git` was supposed to be self-referential (ie,
Linus talking about himself).  Hey, the guy has a sense of
humor.

The Samba guy (Andrew Tridgell) did `rsync`.
