Its possible your v4 IP broke but v6 IP's were working. Not every site is 
on V6 yet.. a good test is to ping google via v4 and v6 and see if you get no
reponse from the V4 IP. Xfinity is a dual-stack provider, much like my ISP,
and I've seen this exact issue here.

Could also be they had a messed up DHCP server, or moved your cable node to
a different "CMTS" (cable router), which would cause you to get an IP out of
a different subnet.
