 That's what I was thinking. If you use Windows, just type "telnet" and
 the IP address into a terminal and you have telnet. It's not pretty
 and it doesn't display things very well, but it works.

 And if that isn't good enough, just go to the Microsoft Windows
 store and search for a free telnet client.
