Most newsreader clients are in UTF-8 by default, so that's what I go with. Since there is a translation table for cp437 to UTF-8 (located in the unicode subdirectory), my "read" line is cp437 (since most posts from BBSs use that, and without a CHRS kludge.. so best assumption is that the message is cp437 if there is no CHRS kludge), then I do all translations to UTF-8 (but not from). However, I doubt that has anything to do with the FROM field, since Carlos has mentioned that everything works as expected on Win32, and he was posting with UTF-8 also. Regards, Nick ....
